FemFaire is a new Tasmanian festival to showcase the talented musicians of lutruwita.

You will get to experience established artists, with years of performances under their belt, the masters of their field. You’ll also hear from the new wave of artists in lutruwita, and, if you haven’t heard of them right now, then FemFaire’s the best place to see them! If you miss out, you’ll be pinching yourself in a year, when they’re on the massive stages of the world.

This festival will also provide interactive activities for all to enjoy – these include zine making and collage making, with materials provided, in a friendly and uplifting area.

In terms of ethos, I am putting on FemFaire to amplify the voices of women and non-binary artists, and address the gender gap present in the music industry.

Women are historically underrepresented in this industry. For example, women make up around 30% of musicians, 9% of sound technicians, and 4% of producers. And in terms of large Tasmanian festivals in recent years, the share of women performers has been consistently under 50%.

But, despite all these dire statistics, we have the ability to make positive change!!
